Walmart de México y Central America announced the appointment of Karthicka Krishnasamy as Vice President of eCommerce, bringing in an executive with over two decades of experience in retail, e-commerce, and business transformation in markets such as the United States, Canada, India, and Southeast Asia.
Karthicka Krishnasamy joins from Walmart U.S., where she served as Vice President of Omnichannel Growth, Experiences, and Value-Added Services. In that role, she led initiatives at the intersection of technology, customer experience, and profitable growth. Her career also includes leadership positions at Sam's Club, where she headed pricing, merchandising, and omnichannel operations, as well as stints at Michaels, Sears, and strategic consulting. In 2022, she was recognized as one of the top 50 women in retail by the industry.
The context of the appointment is concrete: Mexico has more than 77 million online shoppers and a last-mile market valued at over 15 billion dollars. Walmex is the most important international market for Walmart globally, with annual sales exceeding 54 billion dollars and over 3,300 stores in the region. Cristian Barrientos, CEO of Walmart Mexico and Central America, stated that the incorporation of global talent responds to the vision of building the most relevant and reliable commerce company in the country.
Krishnasamy's mission will be to integrate the physical store network with the company's digital platforms to offer a frictionless shopping experience. "Mexico represents a unique opportunity in the world," said the executive upon taking office.
